If you have been looking for information about how to increase the time your kids spend and play outdoors you better make your outdoor play-area awesome with these DIY backyard ideas for kids. It doesn't mean that you have to go and spend thousands of dollars purchasing expensive playground equipment. Most of the times something really simple creates lots of fun and excitement for the kids.

- If you have an empty outside wall on your house or garage you could easily DIY backyard climbing wall. How cool is that?!
- How about making a balance beam? I am sure your kids will be more than excited! It will keep kids active and improve their balance and gross motor skills.

I think I will do the bookcase to sandbox project, only I will used foam noodles around the sharp edges for my small child's safety.

I have 2 nephews who really loves visiting me over the holidays and even on weekends. (They live in the city and I live in a small town). Whenever they visit, I try and find something fun we can do together.
Its always fun having them around but sometimes I just can't keep up with their energy, I guess I will have construct something in my backyard particularly giant reclaimed wooden blocks and maybe a zipline thanks to a few trees
I have.
I already have 2 ropes attached to the trees and they are always competing who will climb up the fastest.Reply
