If you aren’t pie-d out from Thanksgiving, do I havethedessert for you!

It’s rich and chocolatey and amazingly sweet (like-rot-your-teeth-sweet-but-it’s-okay-because-the-dentist-is-just-a-phone-call-away-and-Christmas-comes-but-once-a-year.)

Do you know that amazing cracker Christmas toffee (also known as Christmas crack) that has saltine crackers (or sometimes graham crackers) and is covered in this brown sugar toffee layer and rich chocolate?

You know, the easy way to make toffee, because if you’re anything like me, making homemade toffee the real way means a lot of burned sugar drenched in the tears of my frustration.

Anyway, imagine that amazingly simple and delicious cracker toffee recipe made instead with Oreos.

Whoa.

Oreo Toffee Bark is the Christmas dessert of the season (well, at least I think so😉.)

All right, so how do you feel about homemade gifts?

When I was a kid, homemade gifts were pretty much standard (since besides being a millionaire in monopoly, I was flat broke). There came a point when I was still pretty young, but my siblings were older (therefore wealthier), and I used to hate the fact they could buy better gifts than I could give.

Okay, so fast forward about 20 years, and you know what? I am alllllll about the handmade gifts.

Who doesn’t love opening a tin of Christmas goodies?! Guys, it’s the gift that keeps that keeps on giving (because you get to enjoy it as long as you eat it.)

I mean, who in their right mind is going to open a tin filled with molasses sugar cookies, cracker toffee, rolo pretzel bites, and maybe some fudge (thrown in for good measure), and scrooge it up? It’s just not possible.

This Easy Oreo Toffee Bark recipe is as easy as the title says it is (just watch the video below if you don’t believe me.)

Oreos go on the bottom. A mixture of boiled brown sugar and butter gets spread on top and baked in the oven. Then chocolate is melted over the top and more Oreo pieces are thrown on top, because, you know, why not?

No tears over this toffee recipe (except maybe when it’s gone.)

Here’s the step-by-step video below 👇🏻(fyi, in the video, I made a smaller amount for the video, thus the recipe will call for a larger pan/bigger quantity of ingredients than what was shown in the video 😊)

Hello, Christmas. It’s been way too long.

Course: Dessert

Cuisine: American

Keyword: Easy Oreo Toffee Bark

Servings: 12 -14 Servings

Author: Michelle

Ingredients

  • 2 packages Oreos
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • 12 oz chocolate chips, semi-sweet

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees, and line a large baking sheet (with sides) with non-stick foil.

  2. Place Oreos side by side on the baking sheet (for my pan, I needed 44 Oreos). Set aside.

  3. Crush remaining Oreos into smaller pieces. Reserve 1/3 of the Oreos for the topping. Use the remaining 2/3 Oreo pieces to fill in the gaps between the Oreos on the baking tray (see video for more detail). Set aside.

  4. In a medium sized saucepan, bring butter and brown sugar to a boil, whisking constantly. Once the mixture has reached a boil, reduce the heat to med-low, whisking for 3 minutes.

  5. Remove from the heat, and pour the mixture over the Oreos. With a rubber spatula or spoon, spread the mixture out into an even layer.

  6. Bake the toffee for 6-7 minutes, or until the liquid is bubbling.

  7. Immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the top, and allow to stand for 1-2 minutes (this allows the chocolate to begin melting.)

  8. With a spatula, spoon, or knife, spread the chocolate in an even layer over the toffee and sprinkle with the remaining 1/3 cup of Oreos crumbs.

  9. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before cutting or breaking into pieces.

  10. Enjoy!

  11. (Leftovers can be stored at room temperature or in the fridge)
