What a day it should be on Saturday at the Masters. We've got our runaway leader and world number one Scottie Scheffler out in front, but a host of players chasing him down.
Just seven shots cover the entire rest of the field behind Scheffler, so just one big slip-up would blow this tournament wide open.
Defending champion Hideki Matsuyama is in second with another former champion Charl Schwartzel and a third Green Jacket winner Dustin Johnson just in behind them.
Shane Lowry is playing well, Cam Smith will surely respond and Justin Thomas got himself into contention - and then there's the small matter of Tiger Woods!

Cool Scheffler will be tough to catch

And you thought Dustin Johnson was laid back? Scottie Scheffler is taking everything in his stride, and doesn't seem too worried about holding a five-shot lead at the Masters.
Scheffler told Scott Van Pelt:
"I feel like my game's in a good spot. I've done a good job managing my way on the golf course the last few days, I've made some really nice up and downs and key putts, kept my rounds going.
What changes to his approach for Saturday?
"If anything it gives me more confidence. At one point I saw I'd taken the lead and my first thought was keep trying to build it.
"That will be the goal tomorrow, keep putting myself in positions and keep executing shots. As long as I'm committed to everything, then everything should be fine. The rest is up to me."

Shane Lowry, talking to Sky Sports:
"I would say that's one of the best rounds I've ever played to be honest. It was extremely difficult out there. I said to myself I was going to take whatever it gives me and hope for the best. Thankfully that's a 68 and I'm in a good position now.
"I played lovely and gave myself quite a few chances. I was disappointed not to hole that one on the last - it might have got me into the last group and I'm in a good position."
First Masters missed cut for Spieth

Jordan Spieth conjured up some bad memories as he again dumped two balls into the water at 12 as he missed the cut at the Masters for the first time.

'I played beautifully' - Thomas
Justin Thomas went from a 76 to 67 - the joint lowest round of the day - and was speaking to Sky Sports:
"I'm very pleased, I'm excited, I've put myself in a good spot and I could say none of those after my round yesterday, I was very angry, irritated, frustrated, just upset - a lot of negative adjectives to describe how I was feeling
"Once I got myself to get over it, I realised this is a hard golf course, especially with the wind today, it was going to play tough and a couple under would go a long way and minus five was a big bonus.
"I played beautifully. I made it as easy on myself as possible. It very easily could have been a couple of shots lower - but in gusts this windy you can't be too upset with pars. That's what I tried to tell myself, keep patient, keep hitting good iron shots and I'll make some."

Tiger Woods was talking to Sky Sports, after a 74 left him +1:
"I got off to a terrible start and was four over through five. I hit some bad shots. I got a couple of big gusts of wind that took my ball all over the place.
"I told Joey (LaCava) 'we've got a long way to go - if we can get somehow to even par for the day it would be a great finish, considering the start.'

"I'm in the ball game and tomorrow's a big day and with the conditions being as cool and as windy as they're going to be, Augusta National's committee is going to be very happy that it's going to be dry and fast.
"This is the Masters that we're accustomed to seeing, we haven't seen it in the last few years but we're going to see it tomorrow."
Scheffler takes a five-shot lead

Some questions raised pre-tournament about why Scottie Scheffler was the world number one - well those questions have been answered today.
Scheffler taps in for a par four on 18, which gives him a 67, the joint-best round of the day, and more importantly a five-shot lead at the Masters.

Scottie Scheffler gets a huge break as he slices his tee shot on the last, but wouldn't you know it his ball falls into a position where he's got a clear sight of the flag in between two huge trees.
He's still got to take advantage though, which of course he does by finding the green and within birdie range.

Our leader just hits it a bit loose on 17 but he scrambles well to get a par out of the situation and maintain his five-shot lead as he heads off to the 18th tee.

Justin Thomas with the round of the day so far, carding a five-under 67 to go from out of it to well in touch.
Scheffler could match his round but it was a belter from Thomas filled with quality - including this almost ace on 16.

Matsuyama -3 (F)
Hideki Matsuyama has put a nice tidy round together as he finishes on three under after shooting 69 and sits in a tie for second behind runaway leader Scheffler.

Terrific shot out of the fairway bunker by Thomas - you forget sometimes just how huge these traps are on the last.
Matsuyama is in position 'A' in the middle of the fairway and finds the dancefloor as well.

He's the man in form and he's just oozing confidence. You just look at him and he knows how well he's playing.
Every shot is exactly the way he wants it and he's putting magnificently.

Remarkable stuff from Scottie Scheffler, who cards a fourth birdie in his past five holes to move five strokes clear of the field. All the hard work was done with his tee shot, and the world number one pops in to continue his hot streak.

Lowest ever opening round yesterday, but today was more challenging?
"Not too bad, we hit it better than that. Amen Corner really killed us. Three bogeys in a row and then just found ourselves in some tricky spots after some decent shots. Just one of those days. The wind's strong, it's swirling, little cold, the golf course is playing a little longer with the bite in the wind and just a tricky day, as you can see from the scoring.
"For three under par to be the low round for the day with the best field in golf just shows what the golf course is doing."
